Aventurine is a pale cloudy variety of Quartz, mottled in light green and white in colour, and filled with a play of light reflecting “sparkles” which are a result of very small Fushite, or Green Mica inclusions. Aventurine is an easily found stone and therefore not very expensive. It is usually set in Sterling Silver or used as beads. Unfortunately, it is easily chipped and shows conchoidial fractures with sharp edges when firmly struck. This makes it an ideal stone for earrings and necklaces but it should not be used as a ring stone unless it is set in a protecting bezel.
We always keep a selection of beads and gems, loose and set in Sterling Silver, for your viewing pleasure.
