When I was an itty bitty, my mom was there for me 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and 52 weeks a year, she had 8736 hours a year invested in looking after me. That doesn’t include all the cost of meals, clothes, laundry driving me back and forth and  on and on! Lets say it lasted like that until I was 5, when I started school. So she has 43,680 hours logged on. From age 5 to 10 she didn’t have to be there quite so often ’cause I was at school or out playing. So let’s cut the hours for the next five years down to half, or another 21,840. From 10 to 15 I was getting more independent, looking after myself more and more, so she only had to look after me 6 hours a day, or so. That takes it down half again, or another 10920 hours. Finally, at 15 and getting quite independent, so for the last five years at home, lets average only 3 hours a day. That adds the last 5460 hours.

Then comes the realization …. she’s spent at least 81,900 hours looking after me. Now …. how much an hour is my mom worth? Even at a Toonie an hour, she’s invested over a hundred and sixty thousand dollars of her time as my caregiver. And I’m sure your Mom, like mine, was worth more than $2.00 per hour.

The point of the story is; we can never buy anything that will truly reflect the amount of time, effort and value a Mother invests in her child.

If you’re looking for something really special for your Mom, that will last a lifetime, please come in early so we can make or help you find something truly personal.
